Once in Elevate, Always in Elevate: Continuing To Connect With Elevate Alumni

There are many different types of relationships. But not all relationships have the power to transform lives.

That’s why at Elevate, we don’t settle for temporary or surface-level connections. Rather, we aim to connect with our students on a deeper level and create bonds that last a lifetime.

Our mission is to help students overcome the hardships they face in our city's most underserved communities. Through career and college planning and character skills training, we hope to help our students prepare for financial stability and purpose-filled lives after graduation.

But guess what? Our students don’t stop needing us after high school. So, we don’t stop being there for them.

"One thing I have learned about life since high school is...you're just going to have to figure it out and keep pushing, whether you have the support or not. Aaron has been one of my biggest support systems through it all...losing my scholarships, having to figure out a second plan...Aaron was able to help me find a different college within those two months." - Marwani D.

Like all of us, our students face a myriad of new challenges upon entering the adult world. It can be difficult for students to overcome the unknown and achieve stability and confidence as young adults.

That’s why we continue to provide the same holistic, relational support to our alumni that we provide for our high school students. Because when we say, "long-term, transformative relationships," we mean it.

Through life-on-life mentoring and round-the-clock support, our Teacher-Mentors develop strong bonds that make our students feel heard, seen, and cared for. It's no wonder that our alumni continue to reach out for advice, assistance, or a reminder that someone is in their corner. Our Teacher-Mentors continue to intentionally connect with alumni after they leave the Elevate classroom. Whether it means navigating a tough transition or celebrating wins together, our Teacher-Mentors are still part of their support system as they aim to achieve personal and financial success.

"I had tried college, I went to Ivy Tech, and I decided that college was not for me, so I went back to cosmetology school...Elevate has actually paid for my school fees when I went back to cosmetology school, so that helped me, like, a lot, a lot...they help financially, emotionally, mentally, like, Elevate is just there." - Promise F.

We are grateful for the generous support of local businesses, churches, and individuals like you, who make it possible for us to continue supporting our alumni. In Elevate, we always say that no one gets there alone. And the truth is, graduating high school is only one example of getting "there."

"There" can mean a new job, a new living situation, or a scholarship application to further one's education. But no matter the destination, our goal remains the same: to provide support and resources for our students that help them become the successful human beings we know they can be. Because as we say, once in Elevate, always in Elevate.
